In Mathematics from Southeast Missouri State University in 1954. He played football for the University all four years and was named All MIAA. He was an assistant football coach in 1953. He was a member of the Southeast Missouri State University Booster Club since its inception and served as president.
She didn’t finish high school and Census records show that by the age of 13, she was cooking for a railroad crew. She never learned to drive a car, and her husband left her with three children to raise on her own. She picked cotton, did sewing work, took in ironing, raised her own vegetables and chickens, and did whatever else was needed to survive. Despite this difficult life, she loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally and passed on a lifetime of wisdom to them. As an educated woman, Dr. Ray is grateful for the opportunities her education has given her, which her grandmother never had.

Fourth preference will be given to women student-athletes who are residents of the 21 southeast Missouri Counties, and fifth preference will be given to women student-athletes who are Missouri residents. This scholarship shall also be based on a minimum ACT score and athletic ability. Patricia and her husband John, both recognize the importance of being an actively contributing citizen. Together, they carry that attitude forward helping and mentoring others wherever they go.
He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Girardeau, where he has worked extensively to fundraise for the organization. The recipient of this scholarship must be a football student-athlete. First preference will be for a student whose hometown is in Southeast Missouri. Second preference will be for a student whose hometown is in the St. Louis, Missouri metro area. Third preference will be for a student whose hometown is in Missouri.
Anderson, Donald (Diz) Student Athlete Endowed Scholarship
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 3, 1937, to the later Walter and Eleanore Marsh Mraz. She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Phillips, daughter-in-law Barb Phillips and grandson Josh Phillips. He is also survived by brother Walter Watkins , one sister Mary Marks , four nephews, and one very special niece Karen Vaughan. Surviving is her husband of 47 years, Donnie Hicks of Chloe, her son Scott Hicks of Chloe, and daughter Kari Maack of Servia; four grandchildren, Eden and Karigan Maack, and Lacy and Gavin Hicks. He is survived by daughters Jill Skaggs and Tina Dawn Helton, brother Junior Mitchell, sister Annalee McGrady; grandchildren Michael Skaggs, Mitchell Irwin, and Barry Irwin. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandparents who raised him, Roy and Marthjane Butler, sons Derrick Shelley and Brent Butler; brothers Earlen “Bud” Wears and Larry Wears.
Selection is based on financial need and connection to the Kennett #39 School District. Applications will be accepted from full-time and part-time students. Consideration for the renewal of scholarships will be given to prior recipients if a minimum GPA of 2.5 is maintained. Depending on the availability of funds, several scholarships will be awarded each semester. Arlene was a strong, independent lady that was an inspiration to others.
McClune, Lila Wilkinson Memorial Scholarship
Bennett is originally from Portland, Maine, and received his bachelor's degree from Colgate University. Of the companies that incorporated using Stripe, 92% are outside of Silicon Valley; 28% of founders identify as a minority; 43% are first-time entrepreneurs. Stripe powers nearly half a million businesses in rural America.
Dominic was a member of the National Honor Society, Pep Club, Theater Club, GAS Club, A+ program, was a four-year honor roll student, and was in the top 10% of his class. He was very active in sports and enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball and weightlifting. He never met a stranger and always went out of his way to make sure everyone he saw was happy and smiling. He had such an infectious personality and had a very special ability to make friends with everyone he met.
Mrs. Ruzicka and her late husband were leading donors to the River Campus. This scholarship stands as a lasting commitment to commemorate her family's contribution to Southeast Missouri State University. She was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1985 as a Maintenance Supervisor.
Selection is based on scholarship, the promise of success in their chosen field of study, and financial need. This scholarship was established by Mr. Robert A. Dempster in memory of his father, George A. Dempster. Mr. George A. Dempster was a Southeast Missouri businessman who valued the ideals of education.
The rich and varied life afforded this family through their educational roots has been passed on to their children who have had their own rewarding careers in science, education and medicine. Mary Wilkison, the wife of “Dub”, graduated from Southeast in 1964 with a B.S. This was followed by a 25 plus year career as a 4th and 5th-grade elementary teacher in Sikeston. After her retirement, Mary was visited and recognized by many of her former students who remembered her as a significant mentor who helped launch them toward a wide variety of successful careers. This scholarship is a memorial to honor Professor O. L. Wilcox, longtime head of the music department at Southeast Missouri State University. As the study of music enriches lives, so this award promotes opportunities for students to succeed.
Eligible students will have completed 45 hours at the time of application with a 2.5 GPA or better. Selection criteria will include the promise of professional success, good standing with the University, financial need, and interest in the field of home economics. The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student majoring in industrial education or engineering technology education. Second preference shall go to a student majoring in computer and multimedia graphics. This scholarship is to be awarded to a full-time student majoring in a foreign language with an overall GPA of 2.0 and a major GPA of 3.0. He began his education career teaching in a one-room county school in Kinder.
Their oldest daughter is a Southeast Missouri State University graduate, and their youngest daughter attended Southeast before being accepted into the Pharmacy program at UMKC. The Freezes are longtime members of the Redhawk Club and attend most football, basketball, and other athletic events. They are also members of the President's Council and founding members of the Copper Dome Society.
He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1952, received the Alumni Merit Award in 1986, and was named Friend of the University in 1995. This scholarship was established by Dale Russell in memory of John Glass, a student at Southeast Missouri State University who was tragically killed in an Ozark plane crash. This scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in music. The recipient of this award must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in all areas of study.
Kathleen Wolz is a 1979 graduate of Southeast with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, majoring in English and Mass Communications. She subsequently graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale School of Law in 1985 and is a partner in a Cape Girardeau law firm. While at Southeast, she was a member of The Capaha Arrow staff and was editor-in-chief of the 1979 Sagamore yearbook. She also served as president of Delta Delta Delta, secretary of the Student Government Association and was a member of Kappa Delta Pi. In addition, she has served as Towers North Head Resident, Greek Housing Coordinator and is a past member of Southeast’s National Alumni Council.
